Cerec crowns are ceramic crowns that are made with the help of a computer in one single visit to our office. With these types of tooth restoration you won’t need impressions, temporary crowns, and weeks of waiting time while the permanent crown is made at a dental lab, and then returned to Stuparich and Nouel Dental Associates.
Dr. Nouel will use an intraoral camera to take images of the tooth that needs the restoration, and with the aid of the Cerec computer she will create a virtual crown that fits the shape and size of the tooth. This virtual crown will be carved out of a porcelain block, previously selected according to the shade of your teeth, with a milling machine in approximately 10-15 minutes.
After the crown is made, Dr. Nouel will fit and adjust it in your mouth. She will then customize it by staining and glazing it to match the particular characteristics of your teeth. This is done in a porcelain oven, and it will take between 15 to 25 minutes. Then, etching will be added to the inside of the crown to be able to bond it to your tooth, and it will be cemented permanently. The whole procedure will last approximately 2 to 3 hours.
